Excellent article Dr. Kimberly. So true about the distrust of the medical field and many other fields. You’re spot on with the ability to be able to discern. Thank you⚡️⚡️👍🏻

Thank you Dr. Milhoan. I agree - lots of deception these days. I read two interesting articles today related to your post:

(Jennifer also did a great series on the big "pharma" companies.)

I hope the health care options on Maui are good. I saw a doctor twice during the 12 years I lived on Kauai. The simpler the better.

Peace. :-)

Just skimmed this, but I really am encouraged by the general drift because unguided by the hand of God, the field of medicine has become monstrous in scope, complexity and as such unfortunately, negative impetus. The health of the patient has taken a back seat to a whole host of priorities, and the blame lies not with just doctors, hospitals or big pharma, but with a surprising lack of concern and ordinary curiosity on the part of the patient. Of prime import is the absence of even acknowledgment of God’s existence. Without the guidance of the Creator we are a system in chaos, without so much as an object of prayer, and are the very essence of hopelessness.

This evening I’ll take some time to go over what Dr. Milhoan has written, and use it to inform others that one is better off being cared for by someone who serves God, rather than assumes that he or she is one.

“Big pharma” has a lot to answer for……so does “Big supplement”. Greed vs deception in both. Great thoughts to chew on.

You always have to consider the bias of the advice giver. There's always a risk, for example, that a surgeon is going to want to do surgery. The mistake that we've made is always deferring to the experts in the medical specialty in question. So with covid, everyone deferred to pulmonary / critical care or ID docs for policy creation. That's one reason why you ended up with extreme policies (lockdowns, mandatory vaxxes, minimal hospital visiting hours, over masking, etc.). Those types of docs pretty much clinically only see the worst of the worst, so that's their world view. Public policy should have relied on primary care docs, who were well aware of the bad cases, but also realized covid was very often just a bad cold, andwho also then had to treat all the lockdown depression, etc.. The policies would have been more balanced from them.

In full disclosure, I'm a primary care doc who was in hospital administration during covid and spent a lot of time getting yelled at by hospital based specialists about how I was going to get everyone killed by my insistence on things such as allowing family members to visit and priests to give last rites.

BTW, No offense intended to any anethesiologists in the room (our head anesthesiologist was quite helpful.)

That last line was spot on! And will be put to good use in my lengthening list I entiltle “ Riddle me This” intended for the naysayers. It will take the form thus: “Would you rather be treated by a doctor who serves God, or by a doctor who thinks they are one?”
